SKALE Network

About

SKALE is a network of Layer-1 blockchains (shards) designed for mass adoption with zero gas fees, instant finality, and privacy features like BITE (Blockchain Integrated Threshold Encryption). Optimized for AI agents and x402 payments, it provides a gas-free environment where developers rent SKALE Chains via subscription and users experience Web2-like UX without per-transaction costs.

Where Does Yield Come From?

SKL token holders can earn yield by staking their tokens or delegating them to validators who help secure the network.

Validators stake SKL to run nodes and earn monthly rewards from two main sources:

  • Chain subscription fees: Developers pay fees to rent SKALE Chains. These fees are distributed among validators based on their performance (like uptime and speed).
  • New token issuance: Each month, new SKL tokens are created (this is called inflation) and added to a reward pool.

Token holders who don't run nodes can still earn rewards by delegating their SKL to validators. They share in the validator's rewards without having to operate the node themselves.

The network uses a unified model that pools all subscription fees and new tokens across the validator set. Rewards are paid out monthly after checking each validator's performance metrics.

Chain pricing follows a flat-rate rental model that depends on how much the network is being used. This creates predictable streams of fee income.

By delegating SKL, holders also participate in governance, influencing decisions about protocol upgrades and how treasury funds are allocated.
