Cygnus
About
Cygnus is a modular real yield layer and the first Web3 Instagram App Layer, merging on-chain and off-chain assets to power the creator economy. It leverages the Cygnus Omnichain Liquidity Validation System (LVS) to provide scalable liquidity validation and staking infrastructure across EVM and non-EVM ecosystems, while connecting Instagram users to Web3 via its Instagram App Layer with Account Abstraction wallets.
Where Does Yield Come From?
Cygnus earns yield through its Omnichain Liquidity Validation System (LVS). This is a decentralized security system that allows open staking and restaking across many blockchains.
The core of the system is vaults. These vaults manage the delegation of collateral to network operators. Stakers deposit their assets into these vaults. The vaults then use delegation strategies to allocate that collateral to operators.
The yield comes from three main sources:
- Staking rewards from the networks where operators validate.
- Protocol fees collected by the LVS system.
- Ecosystem incentives from the broader Cygnus environment.
The system handles deposits and withdrawals in set time periods (called epochs). For security, it includes slashing mechanisms—penalties enforced by special modules if operators misbehave.
There are three types of vaults:
- Operator-specific vaults for stakers who want to target a single operator for restaking.
- Curated multi-operator vaults for diversified exposure across a selection of operators.
- Immutable pre-configured vaults that follow fixed rules and cannot be changed.
Cygnus also uses pooling mechanisms that combine assets from many different blockchains. This allows stakers to earn revenue from multiple activities: providing liquidity, offering network validation services, and managing assets across the interconnected ecosystem.
