Avant Protocol

About

Avant Protocol is a DeFi yield layer that provides sustainable, risk-adjusted returns through an adaptive multi-manager architecture. The protocol offers three token categories: avAssets as 1:1 backed entry points, savAssets as yield-earning senior tranche tokens, and avAssetX as boosted junior tranche tokens. Users can deposit supported assets to mint protocol tokens and choose between protected yield or amplified returns based on risk preference.

Where Does Yield Come From?

Yield is generated through a set of strategies run by experienced trading partners. They spread funds across many different places on the blockchain to earn returns.

The main strategies include:

  • Basis trades: profiting from differences in funding rates between perpetual contracts and spot prices.
  • Lending rate arbitrage: borrowing at low rates and lending at higher rates across various lending protocols.
  • Yield trading: using platforms like Pendle to trade future yield.
  • Lending market deposits: depositing funds in markets like Aave to earn interest.
  • Liquidity provisioning: adding funds to trading pools on Curve and Uniswap to earn trading fees.
  • Private liquidity deals: special arrangements to provide liquidity.
  • Stablecoin peg arbitrage: buying or selling when stablecoins move away from their $1 peg.

The protocol uses a two‑tier system:

  • The senior tranche (called savAssets) earns a baseline yield that builds up every day.
  • The junior tranche (called avAssetX) earns a higher yield. It receives an extra 10% of all the protocol’s total yield, plus the same baseline returns. These enhanced payments are made weekly.

Fees:
A 10% performance fee is taken from net profits. Trading partners also receive variable fees. There are also fees when users withdraw their funds.

Transparency:
All yield sources can be verified on the blockchain. The strategy addresses are public, and the dashboard shows how funds are allocated.

The audit found only low-severity issues in a relatively simple token minting/burning system, with no critical or high risks identified. While centralization risks remain due to trusted SERVICE_ROLE control, the protocol team has acknowledged recommendations for improvements.
